Manchester United head into Saturday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea desperate to reignite their stuttering season, but behind the scenes a major story is unfolding.
Veteran midfielder Casemiro, one of United’s most experienced figures, is reportedly attracting strong interest from Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr.
Saudi Arabia circling for Casemiro
According to reports from Spain, Al-Nassr are prepared to do whatever it takes to tempt the Brazilian to the Middle East.
The club are said to be eager to reunite him with Cristiano Ronaldo, with whom he won multiple trophies at Real Madrid.
At 33, Casemiro still remains central to Ruben Amorim’s plans, but the lure of one final lucrative challenge alongside an old teammate could prove difficult to resist.
United weighing up their options
Casemiro’s contract at Old Trafford runs until the end of the current campaign, and with no extension agreed, the situation opens the door to a potential exit.
Despite having featured in all four of United’s league games this season, the midfielder is aware that the club is moving towards a younger core.
United are unlikely to stand in his way if Al-Nassr present a suitable offer, especially given the financial benefit of offloading his wages.
United’s midfield dilemma
The Red Devils’ midfield has already come under scrutiny, with new signing Benjamin Sesko adding firepower up front but little balance in the middle of the park.
If Casemiro were to depart, United would be left short on leadership and defensive stability in midfield.
It would almost certainly accelerate their push for reinforcements, with Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton already on the radar for 2026.
Focus turns to Chelsea clash
For now, though, all eyes will be on Old Trafford this weekend, where United host Chelsea in a fixture that could prove pivotal for Amorim’s future.
The Portuguese coach is under increasing pressure after early setbacks, including a shock Carabao Cup exit to Grimsby Town.
Casemiro is expected to start, but whether the Chelsea game is one of his last big outings in a United shirt remains to be seen.
