Andre Onana Transfer News

Andre Onana has now given the green light to leave Manchester United and complete a loan move to Trabzonspor before the Turkish transfer window closes on Friday night.

Andre Onana Deal Pushed Over the Line

An agreement between the two clubs was reached on Saturday, but the Cameroon goalkeeper had been stalling on making a final decision.

That hesitation is now over, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirming Onana has accepted the move.

Romano wrote on X: “André Onana agrees to join Trabzonspor, here we go! All contracts are now signed on player side, waiting on counter approval from Trabzonspor and travel next week. Deal done on loan from Manchester United as revealed on Saturday, no buy option or loan fee.”

The deal means United will not receive a loan fee, nor have Trabzonspor been given an option to buy at the end of the agreement.

Why the Move Makes Sense

Onana has not featured in the Premier League this season, with new boss Ruben Amorim preferring Altay Bayındır as his first-choice goalkeeper.

The 28-year-old’s only appearance came in the Carabao Cup defeat to League Two Grimsby Town – a performance that did little to strengthen his case for more minutes.

With United bringing in Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day, Onana found himself surplus to requirements. The move to Turkey offers him the chance to reclaim first-team football and rebuild confidence.

Trabzonspor’s Perfect Timing

Trabzonspor are unbeaten in their opening four league fixtures, with three wins and a draw leaving them just two points behind leaders Galatasaray. They are eager to have Onana available for Sunday’s big clash with rivals Fenerbahce, and are pushing to register him in time.

Wider Clear-Out at Old Trafford

Onana’s departure comes amid a significant reshuffle at Manchester United. The goalkeeper joins Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho on the list of high-profile exits, as Amorim stamps his authority on the squad.
