Ederson Dos Santos Transfer News

Atalanta midfielder Ederson Dos Santos has emerged as a key target for Manchester United, setting up the possibility of a transfer battle with Manchester City.

The Brazilian has been a standout performer for Atalanta since joining from Salernitana in July 2022, showcasing his versatility in multiple midfield roles, including defensive duties, box-to-box play, and attacking as a No. 10.

Ederson played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s Europa League triumph last season, helping the club overcome notable opponents such as Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, and while a summer transfer was expected, no deal materialized.

However, the 25-year-old is now being linked with a high-profile move in January or summer 2025 as he seeks to elevate his career by joining a top-tier club.

Ederson Dos Santos Is On Man United’s Radar

According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United are “seriously considering” a move for Ederson as part of their midfield overhaul.

The Red Devils are reportedly preparing to enter formal negotiations for the Brazilian, having scouted him extensively and gathered all necessary information on his potential impact.

However, internal discussions within the United boardroom must be concluded first with approval for the transfer to proceed.

Atalanta are said to value Ederson at €50–60 million (£49.8m/$62.3m), a fee Manchester United may have to match to secure his services.

Should United pursue the deal, they may face competition from Manchester City, who have also identified Ederson Dos Santos as a key target to bolster their midfield. Despite Pep Guardiola’s interest in Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes as his dream signing, City see Ederson as a viable alternative.

For Manchester United, Ederson’s arrival could provide critical depth and competition in midfield. His versatility would make him an asset alongside players like Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Bruno Fernandes, while also helping to phase out veterans like Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.

The Brazilian’s skill set and adaptability could be the perfect solution to United’s evolving tactical needs.
