Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has made it clear that the club should not accept Liverpool’s offer for captain Marc Guéhi, despite mounting speculation surrounding the defender’s future.

The Reds reportedly submitted a £35 million bid over the weekend as they look to cap off an ambitious transfer window, but Glasner believes selling now would be a costly mistake.

Guéhi, 25, showed no sign of distraction as he delivered a commanding performance in Palace’s 3–0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

His influence has been central to the Eagles’ unbeaten start to the season, which already includes a Community Shield triumph and progression to the Conference League group stage.

Glasner makes plea to Palace hierarchy

Speaking in his latest press conference, Glasner underlined how vital Marc Guéhi is to the club’s stability.

He stressed that losing him at this stage of the season would undermine Palace’s foundation, with no suitable replacement available to step in immediately.

“There is no deal,” Glasner said firmly. “For us to play a successful season we need Marc. It’s not possible within one day to find the replacement who can play immediately in the Premier League. When you see our defensive setup, this is our foundation. Marc isn’t a small part in this, he’s our captain.”

Palace chairman Steve Parish has admitted he is open to listening to offers given Guéhi is entering the final year of his contract.

However, Glasner has pressed for caution, highlighting that the centre-back’s leadership and reliability cannot be replaced overnight.

While the financial temptation of Liverpool’s bid may linger, Glasner’s stance is clear: Palace’s ambitions this season depend on Guéhi’s presence.

With the transfer deadline fast approaching, the decision now rests with the club’s hierarchy as they weigh immediate financial gain against long-term sporting stability.
