The summer of 2022 marked the period when Manchester United publicly displayed their desire to acquire Jarrad Branthwaite.
A £50 million bid was said to have arrived at the club when they sought to acquire the aggressive defender who finished his first top-tier season.
The Red Devils trusted Branthwaite to excel at the top level because he demonstrated maturity and physical dominance beyond his years.

Everton, however, were unyielding. The Everton squad maintained their stance at £70million for Branthwaite.
Everton demanded Goodison Park would retain his presence until a mutual agreement was reached.
The fixity of United’s approach led INEOS to make their defensive acquisitions of Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt rather than allowing Branthwaite to join the club.
The transfer drama deepened when both clubs dedicated significant time to bargaining wages for Branthwaite.
United had proposed to Branthwaite a lengthy agreement featuring weekly payments amounting to about £160,000 which stood as more than double what he earns at Everton.
The Daily Mail reports the defender needs Everton to offer an equal salary package as the deal United has presented to him for him to stay.
Everton’s restrictive wage policy enables Moyes to adopt a nonchalant approach toward selling Branthwaite since the club values their prized asset greatly.
Branthwaite holds an active contract lasting more than two years before the optional extension of one year becomes available.
