Jack Grealish Transfer News

David Moyes’ Everton look to be finding their rhythm again, with new investment, renewed ambition and an improving squad building optimism on Merseyside.

The Friedkin Group’s backing has already delivered big-name arrivals, including Jack Grealish, and the Toffees are now turning their attention to fresh reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window.

El Hilali release clause could be triggered

According to reports, Espanyol right-back Omar El Hilali has emerged as a key target, with Everton willing to trigger his £26 million release clause once the market opens.

The Toffees failed in their pursuit of the 21-year-old over the summer, but Moyes is said to be keen on adding more depth and competition at right-back.

Jake O’Brien has held down the role since the season’s start, but Moyes, known for his emphasis on defensive solidity, wants to strengthen the position.

El Hilali, who has impressed in La Liga, fits the profile of a young, attack-minded full-back who could bring both balance and energy to the squad.

Jack Grealish instant impact and future

While attention turns to January, Everton also remain focused on the long-term future of Jack Grealish.

Signed on loan from Manchester City, the England international has already made himself a fan favourite, providing four assists in his first five appearances and showcasing the creativity that once made him a record signing at the Etihad.

According to The Telegraph, Everton are hopeful they can secure Grealish permanently for less than the £50 million option written into his loan deal.

That figure is believed to have been inflated for accounting purposes rather than being a firm valuation. With Grealish still under contract at City until 2027, a reduced fee or even a free transfer arrangement could eventually be negotiated.

Wages could be a stumbling block

One complication for Everton is Grealish’s salary. The playmaker currently earns around £12 million per year, a figure that would stretch the Toffees’ wage structure.

Unless City are willing to subsidise part of his wages, Everton may only be able to secure him on terms that ease the financial burden.

Still, optimism is high around the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Moyes’ side has found a balance between defensive grit and attacking creativity, with the Friedkin Group’s support allowing for bigger moves in the market.

Adding El Hilali to bolster the backline and pushing to make Grealish’s stay permanent would signal a clear intent to compete higher up the table in the coming seasons.

For now, Everton fans will be encouraged by what they’re seeing — a manager with a clear plan, a squad growing in quality, and the possibility of bargain deals that could define the club’s new era.
