Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly among the clubs monitoring Brazilian forward Rayan, according to Calciomercato.
The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the brightest attacking prospects in South America, attracting significant attention from Europe’s elite.
Rayan has been part of Vasco da Gama’s system since the age of six, progressing through every level before making his senior debut in 2023.
Over the past two seasons, he has grown into a vital figure for the club, registering close to 100 appearances. This term alone, he has contributed 13 goals and assists across 43 matches, underlining both his consistency and potential.
Vasco’s stance on the transfer
Unsurprisingly, his rapid rise has not gone unnoticed. Calciomercato reports that Chelsea and Tottenham are keeping a close watch, with several other European clubs also interested, including AC Milan, Roma, Brighton, and Nottingham Forest.
Vasco rejected a £10 million bid from Porto in the summer, but the Brazilian side are prepared to demand more this time.
Reports suggest they have placed a £34 million price tag on Rayan, confident that growing competition could spark a bidding war.
His current deal at São Januário runs until December 2026, though there is speculation that the valuation could soften to avoid losing him for free further down the line.
Tottenham’s need for attacking depth
For Tottenham, Rayan could provide a timely solution. Son Heung-min’s departure to MLS has left a major gap in their attack.
While Thomas Frank has several quality options available, Spurs would benefit from a player with Rayan’s pace, flair, and direct approach.
The Brazilian’s versatility across the front line also makes him an attractive addition for a side aiming to balance domestic ambitions with European competition.
Chelsea’s Brazilian connection
Chelsea, meanwhile, are well-placed to push forward. Their long-term strategy of investing in South American talent has already paid dividends, with Estevao Willian making an instant impression following his move from Palmeiras.
The teenager has already registered an assist in the Premier League, showcasing the type of early impact Chelsea’s recruitment team envisioned.
The Blues also enjoy a strong relationship with Vasco da Gama, having secured the signing of midfielder Andrey Santos from the club in 2023. That link could tilt negotiations in their favour should Rayan’s situation move forward.
A battle to watch
As the January window approaches, Rayan’s name will likely continue to dominate transfer discussions. Tottenham see him as a potential solution to their evolving attack, while Chelsea view him as part of a broader strategy to build around young South American stars.
For Vasco, the situation represents both opportunity and risk. A significant fee could strengthen their financial standing, but losing a homegrown jewel before he reaches his peak would be a blow.
What remains certain is that Rayan’s rapid development has put him firmly on the radar of Europe’s biggest clubs, and the competition for his signature is only just beginning.
