Bayern Munich have reportedly opened discussions over a potential 2026 move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, in a development that could see them beat Liverpool to his signature after narrowly missing out in the summer.
Liverpool came close to signing the 25-year-old on transfer deadline day, but the deal collapsed when Crystal Palace failed to secure a replacement in time.
Despite the late setback, Guehi handled the situation professionally and has continued to impress for both club and country since.
Guehi’s Contract Situation and Market Value
With Guehi entering the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, Palace are facing a critical decision.
They can either cash in during the January transfer window or risk losing one of their prized assets for free next summer.

Given his consistent performances and leadership qualities, there will be no shortage of clubs willing to test Palace’s resolve.
Liverpool remain interested, but their pursuit now faces serious competition from European giants.
According to Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have already held initial talks with Guehi’s representatives, with sporting director Max Eberl said to be a strong admirer of the defender’s composure and tactical awareness.
Barcelona and Real Madrid Monitoring Situation
Adding further intrigue, both Barcelona and Real Madrid are also said to be monitoring Guehi’s situation closely. His ball-playing ability, positional discipline, and calmness under pressure make him an ideal fit for top-level European football.
The England international now finds himself in the enviable position of having several elite clubs vying for his services.
Marc Guehi Response and Future Outlook
Despite missing out on his dream move to Liverpool, Guehi has maintained a grounded attitude.
Speaking after the failed transfer, he reflected, “The sun goes up, the sun comes down. Life goes on. That’s my mindset, and if you adopt that mindset in most things, you just get on with life and move on. Fortunately for me I’m at a football club that has helped me and given me so much. So it does make it that much easier.”
If Bayern do secure his signature, Guehi would join a squad already featuring familiar faces such as former Palace teammate Michael Olise and England captain Harry Kane.
Both players have quickly established themselves as key figures in Bavaria, and their presence could help convince Guehi to make the move.
As for Kane, he recently hinted that he could remain at Bayern beyond his current deal, which runs until 2027.
“In terms of staying longer, I could definitely see that,” he said. “I spoke openly a couple of weeks ago that I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet, but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation.”
With interest mounting from Europe’s elite, Guehi’s future promises to be one of the transfer sagas to watch over the next 18 months.
