The Spanish club Barcelona shows signs of preparing an unexpected transfer this summer to acquire 21-year-old Argentine attacker Matias Soule from Serie A club AS Roma.
Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that Barcelona is searching for powerful attacking wing players, while Matias Soule’s playing characteristics make him attractive to the club because of Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati’s uncertain futures.
Matias Soule’s experience in professional European soccer matches has featured multiple complicated challenges.
The South American winger began his life in Mar del Plata where he then moved to Argentina to complete Juventus’ well-known youth development path.
Since entering European club football he has failed to receive frequent matches in the first team. Following a minimal loan spell with Frosinone Calcio he established his place in Italian top-flight competition after joining AS Roma last summer for a reputed €25 million transfer.
Will AS Roma Release Matias Soule?
During his time at Roma, Matias Soule has not managed to establish himself as a permanent starting player.
The Argentine plays for Roma during the current 2024/25 season mostly in reserve with 1,096 minutes spread across 23 matches and two scored goals as his total contribution.
The restricted playing time did not reduce his commercial outlook in the market. The English club Fulham presented a deal for the Argentine player during winter but the transaction did not materialize.
The Spanish club Barcelona could find Soule as an exciting opportunity. Fulham expressed interest in the Belgrade-born talent because of both their need for attackers and his affordable price.
During the upcoming season, the player would function as reserve support for both Raphinha and Lamine Yamal at Barcelona. Soule offers Barcelona a feasible pricing option that suits their financial state of limited budgets.
Barcelona has not distinguished Soule from other prospective wide attacking players who will potentially join their squad or if he stands as their main transfer objective.
The Argentine likely faces a potential transfer to Barcelona’s Camp Nou because he demonstrates an exceptional skill set which the club strongly needs to strengthen their wide positions.
All attention will focus on AS Roma and Barcelona during the upcoming summer transfer period to observe if Barcelona acquires this promising player.
