Most Arsenal fans expect their team to go for Jules Kounde in the January window as the Frenchman has become the target of the English side.
Spanish sources indicate that Arsenal is willing to spend €75m (£62m) for the Barcelona defender, and Kounde might leave Camp Nou in the coming weeks.
The Gunners have had a good campaign under Mikel Arteta but are still behind Liverpool by six points and the Premier League champions also have a match in hand.
That calls for strengthening the squad, as Arsenal summer signings such as David Raya, Mikel Merino, and Riccardo Calafiori – have been riddled by either injury or lack of stable form.
Barcelona has been excited to let Kounde go recently, and reportedly, they have gone overboard with questions regarding his recent performances.
The French international completed a move to the Catalan side in the summer of 2022 and has been a regular under current manager Hansi Flick.
Barcelona Might Consider Selling Jules Kounde
Nevertheless, doubts over his technical performance and his stability in the first team caused the Barcelona board, led by president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco, to start thinking about a sale of the 25-year-old.
According to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, Kounde would be a game-changer for the team. Kounde, who is highly rated for his balance on the ball, could plug several weak points that have, at times, compromised Arsenal’s season.
However, Barcelona is no longer willing to consider Jules Kounde as an untouchable player and he can be sold if a price the club sets is met.
The potential €75m deal for the club is a massive investment, but Arsenal nonetheless seems keen on making a proper title challenge this season.
This has left Kounde’s future in Barcelona hanging in the balance, and Arsenal’s interest could well lead to a major statistically workable transfer that would give all parties a fill in the eye.
Arsenal will be keenly watched during the January transfer window to see whether or not they will move for the French defender to strengthen their squad in pursuit of Liverpool in the English Premier League.
