Carlos Baleba Transfer News

Manchester United’s hopes of landing Carlos Baleba have received a significant lift after the club posted record-breaking financial results for the year ending June 30, 2025.

Despite a sobering 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City at the weekend, the Red Devils’ commercial growth has placed them in a commanding position off the pitch.

Record revenues set new benchmark

United reported £164 million in revenues for the fourth quarter alone, taking their annual income to a remarkable £666.5 million – the highest in the club’s history.

These figures not only highlight their enduring global pulling power but also provide reassurance in relation to the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Compliance with PSR gives the club added flexibility in the transfer market, something that could prove decisive in their pursuit of top midfield talent.

Carlos Baleba remains on the radar

The Brighton midfielder, who turned 21 this year, has long been admired at Old Trafford.

United considered a move earlier in the summer after completing deals for Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha, but balked at Brighton’s valuation of around £100 million.

With their financial outlook now stronger, the Red Devils could revisit the deal in 2026, when investment in midfield reinforcements will likely be a priority.

Midfield still a weak link

While Erik ten Hag has strengthened his frontline significantly, midfield remains an area of concern.

Casemiro’s influence has waned, while Christian Eriksen and Sofyan Amrabat have struggled to cement starting roles.

Baleba, with his mix of ball-winning ability and progressive passing, is viewed as an ideal long-term option.

However, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton has also been linked as a potentially more affordable alternative.

Long-term planning at Old Trafford

United’s recent financial performance suggests they are ready to invest heavily again, balancing squad renewal with commercial ambition.

A midfield signing in 2026 looks increasingly likely, and whether it’s Baleba or Wharton, the club’s willingness to spend big could define the next phase of their rebuild.
