Evan Ferguson Transfer News

As Arsenal aims to expand their offensive power in January they want to take Brighton’s Evan Ferguson on loan temporarily.

Ferguson offers Arsenal new attacking options despite their past interest in big names Osimhen and Sesko because his cost is lower.

GiveMeSport journalist Ben Jacobs says Arsenal want to sign Evan Ferguson from Brighton through loan because they need additional strikers.

The North London football club needs to resolve several issues before making the proposed move possible.

The Premier League rules let teams make two internal loans but Arsenal took all their spots when they signed Raheem Sterling from Chelsea and Neto from Bournemouth.

Under the current loan terms with Sterling Arsenal must end Neto’s contract before bringing in Ferguson. Given Neto’s small number of game minutes this season, the team could weigh this choice.

Evan Ferguson Is Having A Poor Form This Season

Injuries have hindered Ferguson’s form under Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler this season, and he has only managed 12 Premier League appearances, with one goal to his name.

The 20-year-old is still a player to watch as he had a breakout 2022/23 season with 16 goals in 34 appearances.

He could welcome a fresh start in a loan move to Arsenal while covering for the injury-prone Gabriel Jesus and leading them into the summer transfer window, where they won’t have to commit big money on the likes of Osimhen or Sesko.

Ferguson has had a hard time this season with Brighton coach Fabian Hurzeler, playing 12 times in the Premier League and scoring only once.

Still, the 20-year-old is seen as a good prospect, having had a great 2022/23 season with 16 goals in 34 games. A loan to Arsenal might give him a new beginning and assist the Gunners in replacing the injured Gabriel Jesus without spending a lot on big names like Osimhen or Sesko.

Interest in Ferguson is growing, as a few other Premier League teams want him. West Ham is said to want the Irish forward as they look for help in attack, while Leicester City and Fulham are also keeping an eye on the matter.

Although Brighton wants £100 million for a permanent deal, it seems that all clubs interested, including Arsenal, are only looking at a short-term loan.

With the January transfer window closing soon, Arsenal needs to move quickly if they want to get Ferguson and boost their team for the remainder of the season.
